Matt Edwards - DesignImage from Cigarettes and Chocolate (Old Bomb Theatre Company)Matt has designed for theatre, choreography, opera, and film and television as well as creating large scale installation spaces. He has extensive knowledge of the construction and scenic art materials and processes as well as the design practice. This practical knowledge of construction and painting is invaluable in relating to the production team and knowing how far materials and ideas can be pushed and realised. His creation of the space begins with elements, which are intrinsic to the script, and his costume design develops from relating to one or two of the characters who will inhabit the space.
He collaborates closely with directors to draw out and represent the essence of the piece often inspired and reflecting the narrative and emotions through colour, texture and form. Matt's credits include: Cigarettes and Chocolate (Old Bomb), Hang Up (Old Bomb), Days Like These (Old Bomb), Underbelly (London New Play Festival) Winner of BEST DESIGN award and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Greenwich Youth Theatre). He is currently designing the BFG for Harrogate Theatre, opening in August 2010 as well as The Bluest Blue.
